About Futprints

Futprints was founded on the belief that everyone can leave a positive and unique impact wherever they go (like an actual footprint). It is our goal to provide a platform for individuals to make long lasting impacts in rural communities. Starting with our first project in Bahir Dar Tutoring center (in Ethiopia), we are currently working with 40 students providing after school tutoring and summer courses. We are currently raising funds to build and staff a permanent tutoring center in Bahir Dar.

Futprints Founder

Hailyn Kennard was born in a small town just north of Ethiopia's capital, Holeta. When she was seven years old she (along with her sister, and 4 other Ethiopian children) were adopted to a family in Heber City, Utah. Her adoptive parents started a non-profit organization which allowed her to periodically travel back to Ethiopia. Through this organization, she developed a deep love for service and humanitarian work.

Hailyn’s path to founding Futprints wasn’t always easy. As a kid adapting to American culture while still holding onto her Ethiopian heritage was a constant struggle. Learning a new language, in a new home, with a new family had its challenges. Furthermore, Hailyn has sought to be a spokesperson for sexual and physical abuse. As a victim herself, she has chosen to tell her story and use her experiences as a teaching tool and a way to bring awareness to the often taboo issue of sexual abuse.

As an adult, Hailyn was able to return to Ethiopia and her love for humanitarian work led to the founding of Futprints. As part of her journey, Hailyn has recognized the importance of identity and culture, retracing her own roots and connecting those things that have shaped her life. Not only has this organization helped her connect to her home, past, and family, it has allowed her to connect to those in need.

Hailyn is a cosmetologist, model, TV personality, and was crowned Miss Ethiopia USA 2016, a platform which she hopes to bring more awareness to her cause.
